Early dance and music performance hosted by historical palace in Venice
The ongoing concert series Le musiche dei Grimani organized by Scuola di Musica Antica di Venezia at Palazzo Grimani in Venice – in collaboration with Soprintendenza Speciale per il Patrimonio Storico, Artistico ed Etnoantropologico e per il Polo Museale della città di Venezia e dei comuni della Gronda Lagunare – will present on Saturday 19 April a rich program of music and dance spanning from late Quattrocento to early Cinquecento (see PDF). The evening will prominently feature the choreographies annotated in their treatises by the dancing masters that were active in central and northern Italy: Domenico da Piacenza and his pupil Giovanni Ambrosio (this was the name adopted by Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro after his conversion to Christianity). In order to complete the festive atmosphere, the program will also feature the vocal performance of lively frottolas by the best known authors of this period, such as Bartolomeo Tromboncino, Serafino Aquilano, Nicolò Pifaro.
