European Union Baroque Orchestra announces its 2016 audition courses

An opportunity for young players of historical instruments

Since its onset during the 1985 European Music Year, the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) has provided young musicians with a unique opportunity to train through intensive rehearsal periods and concert tours with an orchestra specialized in the baroque repertory. Continuing this tradition, EUBO has announced its European co-operation project EUBO Mobile Baroque Academy (EMBA), co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

For the year 2016 the project will start with two residential audition-courses – each one lasting four days and located in Echternach (Luxembourg) – the first one from April 5 to 8, the second from April 8 to 11. In order to be admitted, it’s possible to apply from 18 January  to 18 March 2016 using the application kit that can be obtained by writing to Communications Manager Noora Heiskanen at info@eubo.eu. Applicants – players of violins, violas, cellos, double basses, oboes, bassoons or harpsichords on a baroque instrument tuned at A=415Hz – must be EU nationals over 18 years of age and born after 1 January 1986.

The faculty members are:

Course Director Lars Ulrik Mortensen
Chamber Music Margaret Faultless
Violin Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch
other name to be announced
Viola Torbjörn Köhl
Cello Alison McGillivray
Double Bass Margaret Urquhart
Oboe Alfredo Bernardini
Bassoon Alberto Grazzi

At the end of the courses, some of the participants will be selected for EMBO 2016 and will take part in concert tours and other activities from July 2016 to March 2017, under the direction of distinguished conductors such as Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Margaret Faultless and Alfredo Bernardini.
