Mondovì (Northern Italy) will host the 25th Baroque and Classical Orchestra Training Course

Since 1994 the Fondazione Academia Montis Regalis has organized in Mondovì its Baroque and Classical Orchestra Training Courses, offering to many young talented musicians a unique opportunity in the field of 17th and 18th century historically informed performance on replicas of original instruments.

The Foundation’s website has recently published a call for the selection of thirteen young players (born not earlier than 1st January 1985) who will take part in the 25th Baroque and Classical Orchestra Training Course. Before January 15th it’s possible to apply for the selections that will take place on February 3rd and 4th. Bursaries are being offered for the following instruments:

• 7 violins
• 2 violas
• 2 cellos
• 1 double bass
• 1 harpsichord

For the audition candidates, must use a baroque type instrument mounted with gut strings and appropriate bow, tuned at A = 415 Hz. A Continuo accompanist will be available for candidates making a requst for it.

Successful candidates will take part in the 2018 Course, that will be taught by Olivia Centurioni, Alessandro De Marchi, Luigi Mangiocavallo and Enrico Onofri and will be subdivided in four study periods, each one from four to fifteen days, between May and December 2018. Each period will be concluded by a public concert.

Study periods:

Each participant will receive a gross sum of €2000,00 in the form of a bursary, plus boarding during the study periods and an allowance towards travel expenses. At the end of the 2018 Training Course, the Artistic Commission can decide of adding some of the best participants to the roster of the Academia Montis Regalis Orchestra for concert and recording activity during the 2018-2019 Season.
