In a wonderful historical bourg, an intensive weekend organized by Il Teatro della Memoria in collaboration with Filarmonica Giuseppe Verdi and Pro Loco Montemerano
PROGRAM
The Masterclass is open to gamba players of any level who wish to study the viol repertory; it will feature individual lessons as well as consort classes. The program of the consort classes will be determined according to the number of registered participants. The immersive course aims at:
- developing improvisational techniques on ostinato basses;
- exploring technical devices for the proper performance of dance music, thanks to the collaboration with early dance teacher Claudia Celi;
- answering questions related to viola da gamba treatises;
- training for continuo accompaniment.
The teacher, on specific request, may during the masterclass provide an instrument to enrolled students who don’t have a viola da gamba.

COSTS & REGULATIONS
Masterclass fees:
- “early bird” fee with payment up to August 25 2025: 160 euros
- with payment after August 31 2025: 185 euros
A special discount of 10 euros will be granted to persons who are enrolled in designated schools and associations and to residents in the Municipality of Manciano.
The payment of the fee can be made:
- by credit card on this page;
- by bank transfer to the account n. 67/494577 at Banca Fideuram (IBAN IT44R0329601601000067494577 – BIC-SWIFT code: FIBKITMM) in the name of “Il Monocordo di Andrea Toschi”; in order to save on bank transfer charges, be sure to choose the “shared charges” option if your bank is within SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area);
- If your bank is outside SEPA write us and we’ll send you a link to pay through another platform so that you can avoid bank transfer charges.
After the payment has been sent, fill the form on the registration page.
The Masterclass has a maximum number of eight places. Students will be enrolled according to the order of arrival of the registration form. Those that cannot be admitted because the maximum has been reached will be promptly informed, and the amount paid will be refunded. Should a minimum number of registrations be not reached, the masterclass will be cancelled, and the amount paid will be refunded. No amount will be refunded in case of cancellation by the student.

Consegue il diploma tradizionale presso il Conservatorio di Milano (classe di Nanneke Schaap).
Laureata in viola da gamba con il massimo dei voti presso il Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio” di Brescia (classe di Claudia Pasetto).
Laureata con il massimo dei voti e menzione d’onore in Musica da camera per strumenti antichi presso il Conservatorio “E. F. Dall’Abaco” di Verona.
Grazie alla mobilità Erasmus ha inoltre studiato in Olanda al “Royal Conservatorium” dell’Aia (classe di Mieneke van der Velden e Philippe Pierlot) e in Francia al “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse” di Lione (classe di Marianne Muller).
Ha seguito Masterclass con Wieland Kuijken, Roberto Gini, Rodney Prada, Juan Manuel Quintana, Paolo Pandolfo, Sara Cunningham, Hille Perl, Christophe Coin e Vittorio Ghielmi.
Parallelamente alla viola da gamba ha intrapreso lo studio del violoncello moderno con Andrea Cavuoto e Patrizia Punis.
Durante gli studi in Olanda, ha seguito i corsi di secondo strumento sia di violoncello barocco con Caroline Kang che di violone in sol con Margaret Urquhart. Mentre negli studi veronesi si specializza in violoncello barocco con Catherine Jones.
Collabora con Ensemble italiani ed esteri come “La Silva” (Amsterdam), “Hieronymus” (L’Aia), “Ensemble voz latina” (Cremona), “Spirito” (Lione), Locatelli (Bergamo).
Violista del gruppo “Zero Emission Baroque Orchestra” con cui si esibisce in diverse rassegne concertistiche.
Membro del consort di viole da gamba “I Ferrabosco” con il quale, tramite il festival “anima mea” ha svolto un tour di concerti sia in Italia che in Francia in collaborazione con l’Ensemble francese “Spirito” diretto da Nicole Corti con cui registra un disco pubblicato nel 2022 dalla DiG.
Si esibisce in diverse formazioni presso numerosi Festival di musica antica tra cui: Urbino musica antical, Oude Muziek Utrecht (Utrecht), Vox Baroque (Tirana), Festival Antonio Vivaldi (Marche), Wunderkammer (Trieste), Di parola in musica (Stresa), Oxilia Festival (Domodossola), Mloda muzyka dawna (Danzica), Anima mea (Bari), Festival Monteverdi (Cremona), Chigiana (Siena).
Teatro Farnese di Parma, Rijksmuseum di Amasterdam, Concertgebouw di Amsterdam, Sala Puccini e Verdi di Milano, Teatro Bibiena di Mantova, Teatro Goldoni di Venezia sono alcuni dei luoghi in cui ha il piacere di suonare.
Registra per case discografiche come Musica Dalvivo e Brilliant Classics.
Data la grande elasticità e versatilità partecipa a progetti crossover come quello realizzato con il cantante e compositore Parvaz Homay, tra musica antica e musica tradizionale iraniana.
Nel 2019 ha svolto il ruolo di accompagnatrice della classe di canto barocco e supporto didattico artistico alla classe di Viola da gamba presso il Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano.
Fonda EsoteriConsort, un consort di viole da gamba specializzato nell’esecuzione a quattro voci di brani organistici e vocali con cui debutta alla rassegna milanese di Palazzo Marino in musica.
Insegna Viola da gamba presso la “Scuola Internazionale Musicale” di Milano e la “Scuola di musica Diocesana Santa Cecilia” di Brescia. Ha prestato servizio in qualità di Docente di Viola da gamba presso i Licei Musicali di Breno e Genova.
Travel info
By car: from Rome take the A12 Highway (E80) up to Tarquinia, then SS1 Aurelia to Montalto di Castro, SP105 to Manciano and lastly SP159. From other starting points you’ll find the best route on Google Maps (coordinates 42.621550, 11.491170).
By public transfer: the nearest train station is Albinia on the Livorno-Rome line; from there take the bus to Montemerano (about one hour, changing at Manciano; see the timetable on the page Autolinee Toscane).
In Montemerano it’s possible to see the Chiesa di San Giorgio with wonderful Quattrocento frescoes and the Madonna della Gattaiola painting. It’s also possible to visit the medieval town center, recently recognized as one of “The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy”. Nearby are the open air thermal waterfall Cascate del Mulino and the spa resort Terme di Saturnia.
